Jon Culshaw is warmly regarded by many as Britain’s best impressionist with a catalogue of over 350 voices and impersonations including Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Professor Brian Cox, Barack Obama, Alan Carr, John Bishop and Michael McIntyre. His corporate entertainment track record is unmatched both in terms of number of shows performed and the quality of the feedback from clients. Jon is the master of entertaining any kind of corporate audience, whether as an awards host, an after-dinner comedian or hosting Press Events and product launches. He thrives in any events setting, having performed to 20 people in a dining room to 1500 in a conference hall. He’s the perfect choice for private parties and always makes time to research the host’s favourite voices and to socialise afterwards. In addition to his incredibly versatile range of impressions, Jon is especially intrigued by space and is extremely knowledgeable about the stars and astronomy.
Jon first made international headlines in 1998 by calling the switchboard of No. 10 Downing Street and fooling the operators with his impression of William Hague. He was put directly through to Prime Minister Tony Blair. The incident was mentioned at Prime Minister’s Question Time and reported in Hansard.
A busy year for Jon has seen the return of a brand new series of ITV’s impressionist show Newzoids as well as the hugely successful BBC Radio 4 comedy Dead Ringers, which is now onto its 17th series.
Other recent appearances include Frank Skinner on Demand With… and Channel 5’s The Cars That Made Britain, where Jon spoke about his passion for old cars, such as the Ford Cortina, further showcased through his stint on Top Gear’s Extra Lap.
Further TV credits include Spitting Image, The Impressionable Jon Culshaw, The Nightly Show, Parkinson, The Royal Variety Performance, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, 2DTV, Head Cases for ITV, and Jon Culshaw’s Commercial Breakdown (BBC1) and BBC1’s The Impressions Show alongside Debra Stephenson. Jon is also a regular guest on current affairs programmes including The Now Show and Secret World (BBC Radio 4).
The man of many voices recently presented on Channel 5’s The Secrets of the National Trust and More 4’s Walks with Dog, both of which see him exploring aspects of British heritage and countryside, finding out fascinating facts and meeting interesting people.
A lifelong astronomy enthusiast, Jon was a part of the team on the world’s longest-running programme, The Sky at Night, first appearing with Sir Patrick Moore on the show’s 50th anniversary. As a self-confessed fan of Doctor Who, Jon is responsible for voicing many of the audiobooks, with frighteningly accurate Tom Bakers and Jon Pertwees.
In addition to many public appearances, Jon is also a regular guest on current affairs programmes, providing comic relief with impromptu impersonations of politicians and commentators. He can regularly be heard on radio shows including The Now Show and Secret World.
Jon is due to embark on an autumnal UK tour Great British Take Off with Dead Ringersproducer, Bill Dare, which sees them perform an evening of unscripted, unrehearsed, spontaneous comedy and conversation as politicians, sports personalities and celebrities old and new are all up for a roasting!
